The Polish Transplant Sports Association ( PTSA ) cordially welcomes all Polish patients who underwent organ transplantation to join our Association.
Our Organization was founded thanks to the initiative of some members of the Organizing Committee of the 4-th International Ski Week for Transplanted Children Nicholas Cup 2005, which took place in Zakopane, Poland.
PTSA will ensure for all members athletic, rehabilitant and recreative activities. The task is to popularize physical activity among all patients after organ transplantation in our country.
We founded this organization having in mind you - the whole group of the bravest. It will help everybody who wants to promote the transplantation idea as the best of malfunctioning organs treatment. In the majority of countries, the sport organizations for people after transplantations are active for a years. Poland till now has been one of the disgraceful exception.
The World Transplant Games Federation ( WTGF ), founded in England in 1978, was the initiator of the sport movement for all transplanted patients. The first international competition gathered only 99 participants from 5 countries, the last one, which took place in 2005, 30 years later in London Ontario, Canada, competed already 1700 sportsmen from 68 countries. The European Transplant and Dialysis Sports Federation ( ETDSF ) purchase sportsmen from European countries. Both organizations carry out the transplantation idea all over the world, by organizing summer and winter Olympics within the two-year alternating cycle.
The Polish Transplant Sports Association is the first such organization in our country. We hope that help of Polish sportsmen, post-transplant patients will become active and energetic organization for promotion sport after transplantation in children and adults in Poland, and will help them fully enjoy active life.
We are sure, that our joined effort will help to overcome many social and psychological barriers and by knowledge about transplantation will enlarge the number of organs for transplantation in our country.
The motto of PTSA is: “Transplant is a new life” and we strongly encourage all people after organ transplantation and others who wants to support the idea of transplantation for active work and cooperation.
